If traveling by automobile you'll find Prince Rupert is the final city where the Yellowhead Highway 16 meets the Pacific Ocean. You and your vehicle then need to board the ferry to Skidegate Landing on the Haida Gwaii, just 2 kilometers from Queen Charlotte City.  On the breathtaking journey, you will travel through the Coastal Mountains along the Skeena River, one of the largest rivers in the province, and one of the longest un-dammed rivers in the world, and then proceed across the Hecate Strait.

While you're in Queen Charlotte, there are many attractions and local amenities for your enjoyment.

Haida Gwaii has a history of being one of the oldest occupied regions in the world, with a First Nations culture that dates back over 10,000 years.  Click here for the website of the President of the Council of the Haida Nation, Guujaaw  http://www.qcislands.net/guujaaw/

The Haida Gwaii Museum and the Haida Gwaii Heritage Centre feature several exhibits that highlight the area and illustrate the Haida culture. To go to their website, click here:  http://www.haidaheritagecentre.com/

The Gwaii Hannas Park:  Together, the Government of Canada and the Council of the Haida Nation manage the special place called Gwaii Haanas through a unique agreement.  For some visitors, this opportunity to witness a living culture, and immerse themselves in nature is a special experience. We would be happy to advise you on other local activities and destinations during your stay on the islands, such as Trail Adventures and kayaking, and there is a diversity of crafts and cottage industries as well.   Just make plans now, as I am looking forward to fishing with you!!
